Florida Gators softball moves to WCWS finals

OKLAHOMA CITY – The University of Florida softball team secured a spot in the finals of the Women's College World Series with a 5-2 victory over Washington on Sunday at USA Hall of Fame Stadium. The Gators had seven hits on the day, while left-hander Delanie Gourley limited the Huskies to just two.

Overall, Florida is now 13-1 at the WCWS since 2014, which is the most wins in the country during that span.

The Women’s College World Series will get underway on Thursday morning in Oklahoma City when the number one seed Florida Gators softball team takes the field for the first game.

Joining the Gators in the World Series are Texas A&M, LSU, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Oklahoma and Baylor. Florida will take on Texas A&M in game one on Thursday.

On Florida’s side of the bracket is Texas A&M, UCLA and LSU. The Gators only faced UCLA this year and they defeated the Bruins 9-4 in California.

Florida Gators softball lands seven on NFCA All-Region Teams

The Florida Gators dominated the Southeast Region in this year’s NFCA D1 All-Region Teams, with seven players on the list between First Team and Second Team. In-state rival FSU was just behind Florida with six players receiving honors.
