The Florida Gators basketball team gets a rare opportunity on Friday as it will take the court at Madison Square Garden for the second time in a single season.
Following Florida’s 84-74 loss to Duke in its first game at The Garden back in early December, it was a question as to whether the Gators would be a strong enough team to return to New York in March for the Sweet 16 or not.
Florida did not play a bad game there the first time, but it didn’t exactly play that well either. Duke picked Florida’s defense apart, finishing with the second-most points scored against the Gators all...

Coach Mike White and the Florida Gators coaching staff did a great job putting together the 2017 recruiting class. A key member of the class is Raleigh, North Carolina native Michael Okauru. The 6’3 185lb point guard decided to attend Brewster Academy in New Hampshire for his senior season to help elevate his game

Jim McElwain is a basketball nut, something he’s never tried to hide, so you can imagine his excitement during March Madness.
In his first press conference in a week, McElwain opened up talking about how excited he was for Mike White and the Florida Gators basketball team, as well as how well the SEC has done in the tournament.
Mac is a fan, he’s going to watch as much college hoops as he can, but he is also using what White and the men’s basketball team is doing as a teaching tool for his team.
“My hat's off to how our guys are playing. Mike's got those guys playing...

It was all Gators in Orlando, as the Florida Gators basketball team propelled its way into the Sweet 16 with its huge 65-39 win over the Virginia Cavaliers.
It was supposed to be a low scoring squad between these struggling offenses and efficient defenses and for the most it was all Florida on the offensive end. The Cavaliers only had 17 points in the first half which is the lowest it has been held to all season. For the Gators it was Devin Robinson and Justin Leon who helped the Gators first half. KeVaughn Allen remained cold for the time being. Florida concerted on a last second bucket...

Don’t expect too many points to be scored on Saturday when two of the nation’s best defenses square off in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Mike White told the media on Friday that he was trying to figure out a way for his team to score 40 against Virginia, and it wasn’t an exaggeration or a joke. The Cavaliers held four teams to fewer than 40 points this season and five more under 50.
Most notably, Virginia held North Carolina, a team that averages 84.9 points per game and plays a similar style to Florida, to just 43 points a few weeks back.
“What makes them good?...

The Florida Gators will square off against the Virginia Cavaliers in the round of 32 Saturday night in Orlando. Virginia holds a record of 23-10(11-7). Just like Florida, Virginia was pegged by many as a first round upset favorite. The Cavaliers found themselves in tough position in the first half down 15, but terrific play from London Perrantes and 3pt shooting helped lead the team to a 76-71 win against UNCW.
Florida and Virginia are similar in the fact that both teams identity is found in defense. Virginia leads the nation in scoring defense...

Mike White and the University of Florida Gators notched its first NCAA tournament win since 2014 with an impressive 80-65 win over East Tennessee University.

But after the timeout, the Gators returned to bad habits and went 0/8 from three point range until Kasey Hill sunk a last second three to put the Gators up 33-30 as time expired on the shot clock.
To end the half, ETSU, shot 14/29 from the floor and 4/11 from beyond the arc. It was TJ Cramer who led ETSU in score...

Unlike most teams that got into the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, the Florida Gators did not throw a party in the locker room or get too excited when it was announced that East Tennessee State would be their opponent.
It should have been a special moment for a team that has not made the tournament in two years, but a poor finish to the season left the Gators with a bad taste in their mouths. Florida players knew it would be a tough week ahead and changes would need to be made to have success in the tournament.

The Florida Gators were defeated for a third time this season by the Vanderbilt Commodores 72-62. The Gators finish SEC play at 14-5.
It was a hot start in the first half for Kasey Hill, hitting his signature mid range jumper and accounting for four of the first six Gator points. But Hill and the Gators went cold after a quick start. The Gators went a mere 1-9 from three and 11-33 from the field. Vanderbilt continued its hot play against the Gators shooting 50 percent from three.
Hill lead the gators in scoring with six points accompanied by Keith Stone who had an impressive...

Vanderbilt is one of the only teams that has just seemed to have Florida’s number this season. The disappointing 73-71 loss on the road made Vanderbilt the only team to sweep the Gators this season and the only SEC opponent Florida has not beaten at least once in two years under Mike White.
From the mid-point of the first half all the way to the five-minute mark in the second, Florida held control of the game, keeping a lead that amounted to as many as 12 points in the second half. The Commodores would trail the Gators until a 16-7 run sparked a Vanderbilt comeback, slowly dwindling...
